Dear Parishioners.

The assurance of God to care and save us, is what the Church use to welcome us to this Sunday Eucharistic celebration. God promise to listen to us when we cry to God in any distress, “I will hear them and be their Lord forever”. It is with this assurance of, and in God, that we trust.

The wicked one, the evil will like to put us to the test as the writer of the book of wisdom rightly put it in the first reading of today. God never fails, God’s assurance to care for us and to answer our prayers is ever sure, let us with the psalmist put our trust in God. God upholds our lives and save us at all time.

James in the second reading reminded us that where we have “jealousy and ambition, you find disharmony and wicked things of every kind being done;” The wisdom of God which is pure wisdom, in its turn makes for peace, kindliness and it is also considerate. We are call to be peacemakers by sowing the seeds of holiness through our deeds and actions. James also reminds us that the desire for what people do not have leads to conflicts, Jealousy and evil. We should pray for pure wisdom of God, to be contended with what we are and what we have. With contentment, we will enjoy internal peace that will reflects in our relationship with God and our neighbors.

The disciples of Jesus failed to understand the person and mission of Jesus Christ. The saving mission of Christ is that of total sacrifice, it entails dying to oneself and dying for others. A life that involves paying the ultimate sacrifice. Just like the disciple of most of us (Christian) are yet to come to term with this reality. We are call to be a daily living scarify to our world. Through trust in God and service to humanity we die daily to bear testimony to God’s kingdom. A kingdom of peace, joy, and love.

Our positions, status and lives should be to the glory of God and service to humanity. Like children made in the image of God we all have infinite values, so we deserve respect, love and care and we must in turn give these to others.

As Christians, we must use our positions and any opportunity we have to serve and help others.

This is what God’s kingdom is all about, this is eternal life, to love God in the service of our Brothers and Sisters.
