REFLECTION

2ND SUNDAY OF LENT 1ST MARCH 2026

“From Promise to Glory — The Journey of Trusting Faith.”

Dear people of God, the readings today present a journey of faith that begins with God’s call to Abraham in the Book of Genesis. Abram is asked to leave behind everything, including his security, familiarity, and control, to step into a promise he cannot yet see. This is the heart of Lent: a movement from what is comfortable toward what is promised. So, God invites us to move away from what is familiar, sin, self-reliance, and complacency toward deeper dependence on Him. Therefore, faith is not mere belief in ideas; it is trust strong enough to risk obedience. As Abram’s blessing is meant for “all the families of the earth,” we are reminded that our Lenten conversion is never private — it is meant to radiate grace to others.

In the Gospel account of the Transfiguration. Jesus is revealed in glory before Peter, James, and John. The radiant Christ stands in continuity with the Law and the Prophets, represented by Moses and Elijah, and the Father’s voice echoes the baptismal declaration: “This is my beloved Son… listen to him.” The moment on the mountain is not an escape from suffering but a preparation for it. Before the scandal of the Cross, the disciples are given a glimpse of divine glory so that their faith may endure. Lent, too, offers us moments of light in prayer, Scripture, and silence so that we can persevere when the path leads downward toward sacrifice. Therefore, moments of prayer and clarity strengthen us for fidelity when the road grows steep.

Finally, in the Second reading, St. Paul reminds us that we are called to bear hardship for the Gospel, relying not on our own strength but on God’s grace. The story of Transfiguration reveals our destiny, the transformation in Christ. The same Lord who was transfigured desires to transfigure us, reshaping our fears into courage and our weakness into witness. As we continue our Lenten pilgrimage, we are invited to listen deeply to the Beloved Son, trusting that beyond every cross lies the radiant promise of resurrection.
