REFLECTION

19TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIMES 9TH AUGUST 2026

We all face different storms in our lives as Individual or Family in Community Storm of Health, Death , Relationship, Finance etc, we only need to call on Jesus with trusting faith, who is always present and watching over us. He is willing and able to calm the storm for us. His present is peace which fellows from our passional relationship with him in prayer.

Our readings today speak of the saving presents of God among his people, on our path we need to have trusting faith in our God who always get us company and watching over us. All we need to do constantly, is to remember to pray even while in the storm of life.

In our first reading we heard that Prophet Elijah prayed with trusting faith when he had to defeat 450 Priest of Vaal. He had trusting faith in God and so he defeated them.

In the second reading St Paul told us that the Jews lost faith in God and the Prophet when they regretted their promised Messiah Jesus.

In the gospel reading, Peter lost trusting faith in Jesus for a few seconds and began to sink but he called to the lord for help while sinking saying lord safe me, and was rescued.
